Totems (Set of Two)
Studio Ipsa — Sonal Mutha & Aniketh Bafna
Craft Collective India · 2 of 38
The totems reinterpret Molela in a contemporary form, extending the craft beyond its traditional application. Composed of fragmented elements, they explore abstraction, scale, and verticality — offering a new way to engage with the art form in today's context. While the language is more contemporary, the making remains rooted in tradition.
The same techniques used in crafting Molela tablets are applied to each fragment, ensuring continuity between heritage and evolution. The totems act as contextual pieces — bridging past and present — while allowing Molela to exist as a standalone, collectible expression.
