Samatā (समता) — Balance

Dhaaga Designs — Mehal

Craft Collective India · 26 of 38

Inspired by Syed Haider Raza, this textile reflects a quiet, grounded approach to making — where colour, form, and material exist in balance. Crafted using natural dyes and handwoven Kala cotton from Kutch, the piece embraces a slow, attentive process. Techniques like Ajrakh printing and subtle influences of Rabari and Sebha work bring depth, rhythm, and cultural resonance.

Rather than seeking to stand out, the textile holds a calm presence — rooted in tradition, shaped by process, and connected to its place of origin. Kala cotton is a heritage variety grown in Kutch; Ajrakh printing uses natural mordants and block-printed resist patterns with roots in the Indus Valley.
